P3 Training – On Demand Performance Recce Rifle Course

 

Course Description:

 

The P3 On Demand Performance Recce Rifle Course is a focused two-day, 20-hour program dedicated to building the skills required for effective employment of the recce rifle. This specialized carbine, typically chambered in 5.56 for compatibility with other team weapons, is designed for precision engagements from 3 to 500 yards—up to 600 yards for advanced shooters—while maintaining the agility to handle close-quarters battle (CQB) tasks.

 

Unlike traditional DMR platforms, the recce rifle provides a unique balance of long-range capability and close-range responsiveness. This course emphasizes its versatility, training participants to excel at precision shooting at extended distances while also engaging targets effectively at CQB distances in dynamic environments.

 

Course Curriculum:

 

1. Recce Rifle Marksmanship:

• Engage targets from 3 to 500 yards (up to 600 yards dependent on shooter and equipment) using challenging, time-standardized drills from prone, kneeling, and standing positions.

• Perform precise, on-demand shots while transitioning between long-range and close-range targets, enhancing the rifle’s utility in varied tactical scenarios.

2. Reconnaissance Fieldcraft:

• Techniques for camouflage and concealment to minimize visual and thermal signatures.

• Target detection, identification, and observation skills for increased situational awareness during reconnaissance operations.

3. Small Unit Tactics:

• Integrate the recce rifle into team-based maneuvers, including react-to-contact and break-contact drills.

• Execute small unit reconnaissance movements to maintain stealth and security.

4. Close-Range Target Engagement:

• Train on engaging targets at CQB distances, applying rapid target acquisition techniques with the recce rifle to bridge the gap between long-range and close-range engagements.

 

Course Requirements:

 

• Recce Rifle: Carbine with a magnified optic (recommended) and a secondary 1x aiming device.

• Ammunition: 500 rounds of match-grade ammo for precision engagements, and 500 rounds of training ammo for CQB and team-based drills.

• Support Gear: Sandsock and/or lightweight shooting bag, and a DOPE book with recorded rifle performance data.

 

Instructor Expertise:

This course is led by special operations combat veterans with extensive sniper and recce backgrounds, providing participants with high-level instruction rooted in real-world experience.
